Our painting holidays are for all abilities; we purposefully do not take large numbers to allow our tutor to give you personalised instruction based upon your level of experience.

Arrive late afternoon on the Monday to cream tea in the lounge and a warm welcome from your tutor.

A thought for the day is given each morning, for all staff and guests who choose to take a few minutes reflection before beginning the day's activities.

During the week you will work on a painting project during morning and afternoon sessions in the studio or outdoors, weather dependent.

Wednesday afternoon gives free time to explore on your own or visit a local attraction.

Spend the evenings in our lounge where we provide a variety of entertainment which could include a history of the house with its wonderful tale of politics poetry and passion, quizzes and an evening of Scottish music, or if you choose, continue work on your project.

Departure is after breakfast on the Friday.

We will provide all materials, boards, paper and brushes, but feel free to bring your favourite materials if preferred.

Depending on the weather we would plan to have some outdoor sessions, so you might want to include outdoor clothing.

Your Tutor

Ian Sinclair trained at the Glasgow School of Art.  He specialises in Acrylic painting but is also known for his work in Watercolour.  He is best known for his Landscape paintings but takes commissions for portraits and animals.  Another interest is cartoons and caricatures.

Ian is experienced teaching in both mediums to beginners and also the more experienced painters.  His gentle manner and friendly style, love of landscape and nature, makes him a popular tutor as he brings out the best from those who work with him.
